Cross cultural storytelling

August 6, 2024

Blue Futures Translational Research Initiative develops relationships across Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to facilitate transformative local ocean development projects.

They wanted a video that told this story.

Typical corporate fare was not going to cut it. This is, after all, an organisation that values 'engaging with alternative ways of knowing and governing'. Explaining the organisation in more a formal way quickly becomes academic, political and impenetrable to those without the jargon.

So, I pitched this mythic parable concept that blends storytelling styles from both Indigenous and European traditions.

The BFTRI team were brave enough to pursue this bold and unconventional approach. I'm sure the result will be polarising, but the team were delighted and it's just been launched to their communities.
